This is a short English text summary of the German acid-gunk music piece "Essig!". This piece of music contains a lot of nonsense stuff, because it was ment to be a drugfree persiflage on acid house music and I was inspirated to it when my parents had to remove the stains of a water damage in our house. The word "Essig" means "vinegar" and this is a sort of German pun, because it is a substitution for the very similar sounding English word "acid",that is continuously repeated in many acid house records and that is usually associ- ated with a fatal brain destroying drug. The text contains also many other sound puns basing on German pronounciation;so it is a bit difficult to trans- late them directly. German original: English translation: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ [spoken] Igitt! - da is' ja alles Schimmel Bah! - there is a lot of mould behind ...hinter der Tapete... ...the wallpaper... [just looping on the last sylables] pete pete pete... pehte pehte pehte... Trom... pete pete pete... trum...pet pehte pehte pehte... [Trumpet starts to blow. The words "Trumpet" and "Wallpaper" have the same endings in German.] [spoken] Was macht man da? What can we do? Abreissen! Tear it off! (The bassy sound sybolizes the ugly smell rising from the mould.) [spoken] Was macht man da? What can we do? Ich hab' Essig in mein' Haus! I have vinegar in my house! (This is an allusion to Kid Paul's record "Acid in my House".) Essig! vinegar! Essig!... vinegar!... ... ... [door opens, someone says] Essig,Scheuereimer! vinegar, cleaning bucket! [A loud noise crescends, causing a simulated tinitus with muffled sound per- ception in the ears, as an allusion to the lemmingishly high volume at that acid house music often is played by certain people...] [distorted] pete pete pete... pehte pehte pehte... [This is a bit like the chant of a magic mantra and so finally the tinitus goes away.A strange thing is that after the production of this piece of music I found out that in Esperanto "pete" also means "please".] [spoken] Igitt! - 'ne tote Spinne! Bah! - a dead spider! pete pete pete...|Essig!... pehte pehte pehte...|vinegar!... [The "gunk message" at the song's end says:] Sauer... macht... lustig! Sour... makes... happy! (The clicking percussive sound sequence at the end of a gunk music track serves the purpose of finishing the meditation by inhaling deeply and "un- knotting" the legs from resting in the yogic lotus seat.)
