The roots of TEKKNO!(was "Re:Q: Warp Warp..?") I want to hear it's "awful" tone-sequence!!! Tekkno music is said to have its roots in African,Australien etc. aboriginal trance cult drum music, but I am shure that one of the most important basical roots of the melodics of Tekkno are also the monotos of historical videogames. Listen to "Space Invaders","Asteroids" or "Frenzy"[on ColecoVision] and you know what I mean! Get a VCS(or -emulator) with lots of games and compare their sound style with hardtrance tekkno and you will find lots of similarities. Monotos are monotonous repetative sound loops(usually shorter than 40 seconds) those can be created of a given melody by recursively replacing all similar sound sequence parts in it with the same sequence and raster all notes into a fixed lenghth- and timing grid;this gives to the monoto a highly meditative effect.Historical videogame monotos were often based on using subroutine calls and sometimes quite complex algorithms to squeeze a melody into very few bytes of memory and though they are in the same way a form of art of its own unique style as drum rythms and -solos are. I think a homepage dealing with old and new created monotos should be made. There are monotos sounding neutral as the rythm of "Space Invaders",ones soun- ding sympathic as the accompainment chords of "Donkey Kong" and there are the really hard ones those can only be either hated or loved and meditated to while getting into the trance of a "zoner" game. (The VCS2600 game "Challenge" from Goliath(?) is one of these: ROM-file: from Play it(!) next night in a dark room to discover the hidden inner values of this game! If are mentally strong enough to resist to it's incredible powerful monoto without running away or crying for earwax, then it will be capable to give you a completely new experience you will never forget. ;) WARNING! This game is very strong and not recommended for epileptics. ) MAY THE SOFTWARE BE WITH YOU! *============================================================================* I CYBERYOGI Christian Oliver(=CO=) Windler I I (teachmaster of LOGOLOGIE - the first cyberage-religion!) Raster all notes? Huh? Yes,replacing many similar parts of a melody with the same part(a bit like a compression algorithm),like once done to save some memory. Rastering means starting notes only at fixed time intervals and also only ap- ply notes of very few different lengths, according to the time raster(like a simple analogue step sequencer without notelenghth adjustment does). ... > : ROM-file: > : from > > : Play it(!) next night in a dark room to discover the hidden inner values of > : this game! > > That should be > http://videogames.org/2600Stuff/roms/CHALENGE.BIN (Sorry, the site had moved.) > Also, is there any emulator that it works with?
