Mega - Gogo-Train
(GT-27)
a pink, e-locomotive shaped toy organ with drum machine...
main features:
-
16 yellow buttons (not a piano keyboard) and a 4 position switch.
-
monophonic squarewave keyboard mode (15 tones + car horn(?), no semitones)
-
30 built-in dual- voiced squarewave melodies (of very different lengths)
-
drum machine with 15 complex (so-called "rap") rhythm OBS presets
-
rhythms consist of drums, whistle, clap + car horn samples
modifications:
-
3 pots added for 2 combined volume/ distortion changers and clock speed
(I re-used the given wheels as knobs.)
-
clock stop button added to cut and phrase rhythms
-
2 cinch outputs and power supply jack with regulator added
notes:
This beast can be ridiculously much overclocked without any crash until
the rhythms turn into a kind of continuous tone. When distortion is turned
off, the drum sounds get extremely clear in a way that through my audiophile
tube amplifier hifi set nobody would expect them to come out of a cheap
plastic toy. Unfortunately the Gogo- Train's fragile 4 position switch
tends to make shaky contacts and though stop the rhythms (crashing into
a car horn honking loop) due to the solder coated PCB traces bridged by
it tend to oxidize.
